Taking some alone time is very important, use this time to do what makes you happy, spoil yourself and allow yourself to enjoy being alone.
2. Have a NO Phone Rule
Have a rule in your home that states when phones are not allowed. For instance, you can have a no phone rule, at the dinner table, during family game night or any outing or event that is meant to be family time.
3. Show Interest in Your Family Member’s Interests
Take an interest in their lives; show them that they matter to you. Become curious about their interests and learn about their likes and dislikes. Your showing interest will not only make them feel worthy but will also open up a line of communication, which, in turn, creates a family that cares about one another.
4. Make One-on-One Time A Priority
Remember that it’s not all about spending time together as a group. Instead of making plans based on what everybody else wants, create opportunities for individual quality time. Give kids plenty of independence—with rules: Allowing children (and adults) to make decisions allows them to develop life skills like patience and self-reliance—skills that will serve them well over a lifetime.

One of my all-time favorite things to do with my family is play board games. Sure, it’s fun just because we get some quality time together, but playing a game also brings families closer. A recent study showed that those who played a game together experienced increased feelings of closeness with their families.
Even if you don’t have anything in particular planned for your board game night, just make it an event you look forward to. If something comes up and you miss one month or even two months (let’s be honest, sometimes life gets crazy), don’t give up! Just jump back into board game night as soon as possible!
You could make it so that, each person picks one board game and then everyone plays until someone wins (or loses). For kids, it is recommended that you get them involved early on by making sure they pick out at least one game each month.
11. Play Outdoor Games as a Family
Nothing strengthens family bonds like fun—and even better if that fun is combined with learning a new skill. That’s what makes playing games outside as a family so great; you get to hang out with each other, and have some good old-fashioned entertainment, too. And since most of us spend far more time indoors than outdoors nowadays, it can be easy to lose touch with nature and your sense of adventure—but not when you’re playing a game together!
Having a close-knit family is the most satisfying feeling in the world.
